Okay, okay! In response to many requests for "real old lye soap", we used the old-fashioned way to make this special soap. Rendering the animal fats and stirring in a special soap pot, we added the lye and a couple of secret ingredients from my Mother's recipe to bring this wonderful all-purpose soap bar from yesteryear.  Grate some into your wash water, rub it on that 'ring-around-the-collar', use it to stop poison ivy or chigger itch. Enjoy a bit of nostalgia. In honor of my mother, Maggie. Each 5 oz. bar is wrapped with cloth strip and secured with miniature wooden clothespin.
